About Dr. Stephen Scionti, MD

Over the past 20 years Dr. Stephen Scionti has developed the largest and most experienced practice for prostate cancer treatment using minimally invasive thermal ablation technologies such as HIFU, TULSA‑Pro, Cryoablation and Prostate Laser Ablation. He has achieved global recognition for his expertise and groundbreaking clinical contributions in image‑guided prostate cancer ablation.

HIFU:

Dr. Scionti is internationally recognized for his expertise in High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), having performed over 2,000 successful procedures. He has collaborated with leading medical centers worldwide to advance HIFU technology, conduct research, and train fellow urologists. As former Director of Clinical Education and Training for USHIFU, he played a key role in preparing American urologists prior to FDA approval. Today, he continues to treat prostate cancer patients using HIFU at the HIFU Center in Sarasota, Florida.

TULSA-Pro:

Dr. Scionti established the first Center of Excellence in North America dedicated to TULSA-Pro, an MRI-guided prostate ablation technology. In January 2020, he performed the first post-FDA-approval TULSA-Pro procedure in the U.S. This innovative treatment adds another minimally invasive, MRI-guided option for men with localized prostate cancer, further expanding Dr. Scionti’s pioneering role in prostate cancer care.

Cryotherapy:

With over 1,000 prostate cryotherapy procedures performed, Dr. Scionti is among the most experienced cryosurgeons in the field. He has trained and proctored hundreds of urologists, led national workshops, and contributed extensively to the COLD Registry—an important database tracking cryotherapy outcomes. A frequent lecturer and researcher, he previously served as Medical Director and Founder of the International Center for Men’s Health in Hilton Head, SC.
